Pop-Musik will populär sein, will viel gehört und gefeiert werden. Das sagt ja schon der Name. Gleichzeitig erheben viele Bands des Genres einen künstlerischen und intellektuellen Anspruch an ihre Musik. Den einen gelingt der Spagat, anderen weniger, Vereinzelte geben das Künstlerische gänzlich auf. Was auffällt, ist dass der Erfolg oft negativ mit künstlerisch- kreativen Einflüssen korreliert. Je experimenteller, je genialer und interessanter Pop-Musik wird, desto schwieriger wird es, die Musik populär zu machen. Zumindest, wenn man Erfolg in monetären Einheiten misst. Viel Pop-Musik scheitert an diesem Dilemma. Doch Bands wie Golf, Wyoming oder Woman zeigen, wie spannend Pop sein kann, dass Experimente auch im Pop ihren Platz finden können.

Aus dem Ursprungsland des Pop erreicht uns eine Indie-Rock Band names Shame, die darüber einen wunderbaren Song geschrieben haben. Über die Kunst, die künstlich wird und an Natürlichkeit und Persönlichkeit verliert. Über Musik, die sich für die Ästhetik aufgibt, welche konsumiert wird, ohne beachtet zu werden, welche gehört wird, ohne dass man ihr zuhört. Es geht um die Kurzlebigkeit, um die Aufgabe von Relevanz und Kreativität.
Die fünf Briten machen solide britische Gitarrenmusik und rocken in britischer Manier die Bühne. Auch die Ladies von Warpaint haben sie für sich gewinnen können und touren gerade gemeinsam mit ihnen durch die Gegend. Wir freuen uns schon auf das erste Album und schauen uns derweil noch ihre Show aus Paris an.
