Oh hallo Gentleman. Da will man anfangen zu tanzen, auch wenn die entsprechenden Moves vom RocknRoll fehlen…

Nick Waterhouse ist mit verschwitzten Live-Auftritten und Songs zwischen R’n’B, Soul und Garage bekannt geworden. Ein grauenhafter Dancepop-Remix seines Songs “Katchi” hat es sogar in die deutschen Charts geschafft. Auf seinem vierten Album gibt’s zwar keine Dance-Beats, dafür aber einen analogen Nick Waterhouse in Bestform.

Bekannt für seine Vintage-inspirierte Pop- und R&B-Ästhetik ist Waterhouse ein Songwriter, Sänger und Gitarrist, dessen Musik an die Sounds der 1950er und frühen 60er Jahre erinnert und gleichzeitig ein modernes Maß an Energie und Coolness besitzt. Er ist ein Vorkämpfer für analoge Aufnahmetechniken.

Man sieht es ihm an, er ist Perfektionist und geschickter Arrangeur: schneidende Bläser, ein druckvolles Schlagzeug, flirrende Vibraphontupfer im Hintergrund – alles sitzt punktgenau, wirkt aber nie angestrengt. Und Waterhouse weiß auch, wann weniger mehr ist, wie bei dem wunderbar zärtlichen Thought & Act.
